As your baby grows, they’ll become more independent snd start to explore. It’s fun to watch your baby discover new things, but it also means dealing with more of a mess.

Here are some ways to help your baby stay clean in between baths.

Newborn Freshening

Most paediatricians or midwives recommend bathing newborns 2 or 3 times per week, increasing the frequency as your baby gets older. Even though you may not give your baby a bath every day, make sure that the nappy area is kept clean at every nappy change, and that their face, skin folds under the chin and hands are cleaned after every feeding.

A sponge bath is an alternative many mums choose for very young babies.

Wipes

For those times when you’re out and about or when hand washing just isn’t convenient, you can still encourage good hygiene habits with your baby. JOHNSON’S® baby cleansing wipes are mild and alcohol free, so they’re perfect for when your little one’s been getting up to some messy mischief.

Hand Washing as Your Baby Gets Older

When your child is between 18 and 30 months it's a good time to start teaching hand washing (even though toilet training may come much later).

Your toddler will love doing things for themself, especially if they think they’re doing "grown-up activities." Give your toddler a stool to stand on so they can reach the sink, and check that they know the difference between the hot and the cold taps.

Wash with an easy-to-use cleanser specially developed for infants or toddlers. You can also make it fun — wash your hands together, and see who can make the most foam!
